One of the reasons couples choose Baja for their weddings is because of our amazing sunsets…everyone wants a sunset beach wedding!
But the truth is…having a true sunset beach wedding (where the sun has gone below the horizon and the colors are the most vibrant) is a challenge for even the most experienced and talented photographer. Most wedding photographers prefer to capture the ceremony an hour or so before the actual sunset.
My bride, Ryan, however, knew that no matter what, she wanted her beach “I Do’s” to take place at the most colorful part of the sunset…and the amazing photographer Daniela Ortiz, based in Cabo, stepped up and literally created stunning and super-romantic photographs! I was impressed!
Planning for this California couple began with a 2-day site visit to Rancho Pescadero, in El Pescadero, one hour north of Cabo San Lucas.
There we planned all of their wedding events (3 nights worth) and did amazing food & drink tastings. Ryan had spent some of her youth growing up in Cabo and Hawaii and knew a casual, relaxed, beach location for her events was perfect! Rancho Pescadero was just the place!
When their wedding week-end rolled around, Ryan and Christian arrived ready for a celebration! With pool floats in hand, and bridesmaids using local foliage to make Hawaiian style head wreaths, everyone was ready to relax and have fun. The fun started with:
THURSDAY WELCOME DINNER:
FRIDAY REHEARSAL DINNER:
Held at Rancho Pescadero’s Garden restaurant, tables were creatively placed, alternating between rustic wooden rectangular tables and white linen draped round tables, with a mix of benches and Rancho’s famous leather chairs. This dinner was the most formal, and included plated high end Mexican cuisine.
Time for that sunset beach wedding! Oh…and a few other things, too! Christian, the groom, asked for only one thing: a cigar lounge. With a cigar roller present, and a special place created just for Christian and his friends, he was thrilled to have a lounge area to relax in. Saturday night was the sunset ceremony, with the circular benches surrounding the couple. Ryan’s other main request for the night was tons of candles! We created a dazzling table decor including a variety of over 50 candles and simple shells scattered over the each 8’ long table. A Cabo band played all night and everyone was up dancing throughout the event.
This couple had wonderful and unique ideas that I was so happy to help make reality for their wedding day!
We all invested a great deal of time and energy into their planning and I was thrilled with the results! It takes a great team – thanks to these vendors:
